LAN chat with Unix systems

There are a lots of options (telnet, talk), but I like this one
(and it can be used at other things too): netcat. Let’s say we
have two machines, 1 and 2. The steps are dead simple:

on 1: $ nc -l 55565 # the port number to open (always over 1024)
on 2: $ nc $IP_OF_1 55565

As long as your system supports netcat (Linux and *BSD for sure),
you’re set.
